Modern elegance with a touch of Zen tranquility can be found at this very private home in Carmel Valley, where serene views and exquisite design come together in a resort-like setting.

Located just east of Carmel Valley Village, the 3400 square foot, 3-bedroom, 2-1/2-bath home has a distinctly Asian sensibility, enhanced by carefully curated artworks and décor. At the same time, the home is child and dog-friendly and offers a peaceful place to enjoy friends and family without distractions from the outside world. "Samana" is a Buddhist term - "a life in tune with nature".

Villa Samana is a short car ride to Holman Ranch or Stone Pine Equestrian Center where you can board your horses and take advantage of miles of private trails. The property is just 10 minutes from the restaurants and shops of Carmel Valley Village, and even closer are several local wineries with tasting rooms. The charming boutiques and galleries of Carmel-by-the-Sea are 20 minutes away, and Pebble Beach and Monterey attractions are within about a half hour drive.

Designed by renowned Monterey architect Gene Takigawa, this home set on 2-1/2 acres, has clean lines and minimalist style. Japanese maples, Italian cypress, lavender and white birch trees adorn the property. At the entrance, you'll see a stunning view of the home's outdoor pool (seasonal, open April - October) through glass double doors, set against the beautiful hills of Carmel Valley.

Upon your arrival you will be greeted with complementary wine and cheese, tickets for a wine tasting at Scheid Vineyards' tasting room in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea and a basket of local information. An assigned concierge vacation house manager is available to assist you during your stay. We have also provided spa amenities in the bathrooms, spa robes and beach gear.

The bedrooms are located in one wing of the 3,400-square-foot home and include the master bedroom, with a king platform bed, walk-in closet and en suite bathroom. The bathroom has a shower stall that is separate from the deep luxury tub, with stone tile floors and countertops. Hilltop views can also be seen through a corner window while enjoying a long soak in the tub.

Two other bedrooms offer queen beds and walk-in closets. A shared bathroom includes a tub-shower combo, tiled floors and double sinks. All bedrooms are carpeted while halls have hardwood floors.

Another wing contains the living room, dining room, kitchen and family room, all with hardwood floors and large west-facing windows to take advantage of sunset views. Doors from living areas lead out to a patio with gourmet gas grill for barbecuing.

The sunken living room includes a wood burning fireplace and sectional seating, as well as a 46" inch HDTV above the fireplace. A day bed in a cozy alcove sleeps 1 - 2 children or curling up to read a book and look out to the beautiful hills and azure swimming pool (seasonal, open April - October).

The dining room seats six and extra seating is available at the kitchen counter. In the kitchen, a Sub-Zero refrigerator, gas range and double ovens make meals a snap to prepare and the adjacent family room has a wood fireplace, leather club chairs, a library and a desk. There is a printer in case you need to set up an office away from home.

A laundry room with washer and dryer is just off the kitchen and a half-bath is in the hall that leads to the two-car garage. Additional parking is available in the driveway. Everything you need for a day at the beach from chairs to umbrellas and coolers is provided.
