If you use your fireplace during the winter and holidays, you should clean it at the end of the season. But you probably don't want to pay a professional $200 to $350.
With this kit (which has never been used), you can clean your own chimney.
The kit has been sitting in my dad's garage for years, but was never used.
NOTE: The kit is missing what the manufacturer calls a "wire scratch brush" (the handheld brush). But everything else (the round brush and the fiberglass rods) in the original kit is complete and unused.
It appears the items in this kit are no longer sold together. Today, the round brush sells for $35 at Home Depot. And the extension rods sell for between $44 to $55 at Ace Hardware, Amazon and Home Depot.
