This mid-size equipment is most similar to the NordicTrack FreeStride trainers which start at $1,899 (when on sale) and can go past $3,750 depending on configuration and availability (which is often a challenge). Sales tax at retail will also add a LOT to the price.This ProForm is better however, as the design takes significantly less room in spite of having otherwise similar characteristics (resistance, stride length and more). Indeed, you can practically back it up to a wall or corner (see photo #2 of someone else's installation) and it will still work. Other ellipticals have ungainly bits coming out of the back and can not achieve this!
It uses a magnetic resistance system (this is much better than the NordicTrack which has a complex pulley and band system which can easily get mucked up!). The magnetic system provides a smooth, frictionless, and ultra quiet operation, even while providing needed resistance!
The handlebar sensors monitor your heart rate to help you stay in the Target Heart Rate zone when working on weight loss, aerobic, or performance goals.
