Room or house to share wanted (Santa Cruz County)
Hi, my name is Lawrence, I go by Ren. Have lived in Scotts Valley for over 8 years. The house (my mother's former property) is now being sold and I need a shared residence or room. No dependents, significant other or pets of my own but can live happily with those of others. Working man in my 60's yet healthy and sturdy, I have a job, my own car, enjoy Karaoke, international folkdancing and Bocce ball and otherwise try to keep busy. When at home I tend to be more isolate but will not hide behind a closed door all of my off-hours.
Here are excerpts from a letter of endorsement my niece wrote for me back in August, when she had put up an offer to forward a trust fund advance allowing me to acquire a three to six month lease for an available property...
"I am trying to help my (now 66) year old uncle find a [space] like yours. He has lived the past 9 years in my grandmother's home (his mother) in Scotts Valley, caring for her in her old age. He did not have outside employment during that time [insert: not entirely true, I had two part-time jobs for a total of four years], nor did he pay rent to her, because she required full time care which he provided. That situation has recently changed. She now lives in a facility instead due to her declining health, and I must sell her home. So my uncle, Lawrence, needs a small, quiet place to live while he . . . works part time to supplement his monthly social security check. That's where I come in. I am the trustee for my grandmother's Trust, and I am trying to help Lawrence ... by providing him the funds necessary to pay a 6 month lease on a place right away.**
"My uncle lives very quietly and very simply. He has his own newer, reliable vehicle, and he will enjoy spending some time in town . . . eating out and visiting in Santa Cruz, but other than that he enjoys quietly listening to podcasts, and does not entertain company. No smoking, no pets. He would be a terrific tenant but is having a tough time competing for rentals out there.
"My uncle is copied on this email and would love to hear back if you would like to meet him to consider him as a tenant. We will watch our emails . . .
"Thank you. -- 🌷Marcy"
**The aforementioned Trust fund advance is no longer available. However, deposit and first month's rent is already secured.
