Vox AC-30 tone on a budget. The JOYO banTamP AtomiC uses a real 12AXY tube in the preamp. Two channels: switchable clean and overdrive modes, but don’t expect metal from the OD, just the clear British ‘glassy’ hollow-midrange tone we’ve heard from the Beatles, Petty, May, and others. The clean channel takes pedals well. I used a tube overdrive pedal in my chain and got all the gain I could want. The amp has send and return jacks, perfect for your time-based effects like reverbs, delays, and choruses. Or if you use a pedal that has amp simulation, you can bypass the AtomiC’s preamp section altogether by plugging into the effects return jack. A great practice tool is the built-in Bluetooth that lets you wirelessly connect to your smartphone. Play along with a backing track or a metronome. 1/8-inch headphone jack. And this thing is LOUD. 20 watts at 8 ohms was plenty of power for my 112 cabinet. A great back-up amp that fits in a backpack. Never gigged. Original power supply, speaker cable*, and all packaging included.
