The custom-made concrete moulds were designed and used for casting all necessary pieces needed to construct new complete fireplaces. The fireplace design is very European traditional, with an antique French or Italian flair. The individual cast components will resemble hand-cut pieces of limestone that can be readily adhered to modular Isokern and Lennox fireboxes with chimney structures. They can also be used with full masonary substructures. The cast fireplace components can also be used to replace demo-ed masonary fireplaces that are in need of a new face. The Mantel width is 59 1/2". The fireplace opening is approximately 39" wide by 42" high. A total of 25 or more individual pieces are cast and needed for a single fireplace. The cast material can be strongly reinforced with small diameter steel rebar, along with corrugated brick ties. The concrete mix consists of white cenent with a 3-to-1 ratio. Any finish color can be achieved using a wide selection of stucco pigments in the mix. The overall height of the mantel and above over-mantel can be adjusted for any needed measurements. Moulds are also included for the casting of hearthstones that also meet building requirements. In a short time I was able to cast all of the pieces needed for 2 completed fireplaces. With little masonary experience, I was also able to cast and assemble both fireplaces without any help. One of the above photo shows the completed great room fireplace on the far right. Other photos are of the moulds.
