This is a rare Theatrical Fog Machine that I've been using to create a haunted graveyard to raise money for charity since the 1980's. We're getting older and are getting rid of most of our Halloween props and sets.
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A SMOKE MACHINE AND A FOG MACHINE?
This Fog Machine differs from the cheap fog machines you'll find on Amazon in that those other fog machines are actually smoke machines. What's the difference? Smoke machines us chemicals to make the area smoky. A true Theatrical Fog Machine uses dry ice and hot water to make fog that is cold and sinks low to the ground and leaves zero residue to clean up. Theatrical Fog actually flows down hill through the grass like a liquid, which looks really cool. Theatrical Fog looks so much spookier and real than smoke machine "fog." You can go to YouTube and search on chemical foggers vs dry ice foggers.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
You fill the barrel with water, plug in the heating elements, and then wait for the water to boil. There are two heating elements, each around 1400 Watts. Once the water is boiling (or even just steaming), you fill the basket inside the barrel with chopped up dry ice and lower it into the water via a control rod. The dry ice will hit that hot water and create a ton of cold, ground-hugging fog. You next flip on the switch for the fan and the fog is pumped out through plastic ducting (provided) to wherever you want it.
RESULTS?
We've created thick, heavy, low-lying fog over an area of a quarter acre and put lights in it, here and there, to give a spookier effect. You can also route the plastic ducting to come up through a tombstone or the mouth of a scary statue or a hole in the ground with a pulsing light inside to make the fog originate from there.
You'll have to come and pick it up in Marina if you're interested. The design is based on a 55 gallon drum, so it's large and heavy, but has wheels so it can easily be rolled around.

If you want to test it, bring some dry ice and I'll demo it for you, though it does take awhile for the water to heat up. It's been stored inside all these years, and is a little oxidized because I live near the beach, but the Theatrical Fogger works fine and is in good shape. Everyone has a smoke machine on Halloween. Very few people have a Theatrical Fogger and the difference in the fog is night and day. People with chemical foggers will ask you how you got such great, low-lying fog.
