The Logitech Harmony Elite is a universal remote control system. It can control all your audio-visual equipment (i.e. TVs, projectors, amplifiers, disc players as well as home automation devices such as thermostats, light controllers, fan controllers, window shade controllers and more).
As such it can easily replace ALL your remote controllers.
It comes with:
remote control
charging base for remote (you don't need to replace batteries all the time!)
hub
IR "blasters" (2)
all relevant power cables and manuals
Much of this is still in the protective overwrap.
The remote not only has physical buttons, but also an LCD touchscreen which is completely programmable for a highly customized layout. You can even customize the icons to your heart's content. [ I forgot to take a picture of my layout before completely disconnecting everything, so the last two images are "stock" images from Logitech. It gives some idea of what is possible. ]
The "hub" also allows you to use a smartphone / tablet app to control all your devices. The control layout of the app will mirror what the Logitech control displays so everything is synchronized conceptually.
The whole system is fully programmable with either the noted smarphone / tablet application (available for free) or a Windows application (also freely downloadable from Logitech).
In my opinion, the coolest aspect is that the Harmony system can allow for "Activities" (sometimes also referred to as "scenes" in the automation community) which do things like turn on (or off) multiple related devices all at once.
So, you can press a single button to turn on TV, audio system, media player or cable box and dim the room lights, start Netflix (or any other service or device), all together at the same time. Timers can be set as well!
Even though I programmed it for maximum simplicity, it was a bit too "complicated" for my 87 year old Mom, who somehow prefers flipping multiple light switches and likes turning on the TV and disc player or cable box separately. The remote sat in the cabinet drawer for over a year, unused. Her loss is your gain!
New from Amazon, this used to cost just under $400, but the full Elite kit is surprisingly no longer available at the moment.
I am asking $245 / Reasonable offers will be considered.
