Volunteer Guides: Our most important volunteer position, Guides receive an Audi for the weekend to transport our celebrities, CEOs and honored guests for the duration of the event. Number of volunteers needed: 35. Time requirement: Thurs. from 6pm-7pm, all day Friday and Saturday, and Sunday until 3 pm.

Start Line Assistants: Assist with venue setup, registration, parking coordination, and light cleanup duties. Number of volunteers needed: 20. Time requirement: Depending on start line (100, 62 or 15 mile start lines) - Saturday between 6am-1pm

Rest Stop Assistants: Assist with venue setup, food and water distribution, and light cleanup duties. Number of volunteers needed: 20. Time requirement: Saturday shifts between 6am-5pm

Finish Line Assistants: Assist with venue setup, food and water distribution, handing out awards, and light cleanup duties. Number of volunteers needed: 10. Time requirements: Saturday shifts from 10am-5pm.

Our nonprofit was started by parents looking for a new and smarter way to commit words to long-term memory. The program provides unlimited, personalized tutoring.
We are sustained only through memberships and match them with scholarships for disadvantaged students. For the 2008-09 school year, for example, all 3rd grade classrooms in the Bay Area will receive free licenses.
Details are posted in ouronline newsroom ("them" - "newsroom"), please come have a look around, and maybe sign up for a free trial to see what we are all about.

The coaching process may seem very simple, but it is supported by a database of over 100,000 words, and product of a tremendous and ongoing editing effort. Since the English language is constantly evolving, and we're continuously striving to improve this project, we are always adding to, reviewing and editing this resource.

We are always looking for writers and editors who like to "play with words" and who would like to be a part of this innovative project.
We are also in the process of translating our online slideshow (see homepage), so that English language learners will have an easier time understanding how this program works.
Translators and voice over artists can receive credit on the loading screens.
We still need translations (expect 5-10 hours of work) for Chinese, Hindi, Portuguese, Farsi/Persian, Arabic, Greek, Italian, Dutch, Swedish, Indonesian, Korean, Japanese, Russian, Norwegian, etc.
We also need voice over artists for all of these languages, plus Spanish and French (translations are ready).

My name is Mary Ann. I work as a volunteer advocate for victims of sexual assault. I am working on a book project which is focusing on the long-term emotional aftermath of sexual assault and abuse with the purpose of bringing a better understanding and much needed awareness to our society about this serious social issue. This book will include survivor's stories (at least 5 yrs. out) of how they have lived with the emotional aftermath, which for many has been more difficult to survive than the actual assault/abuse itself. I'm looking for diversity, male/female, young/old, especially interested in the voice of the elderly, their generation being most silent.

We have no choice but to speak out if we are to bring about change.

At the beginning of 2004, Kristen Palana launched an online project called Aura�s House: http://www.aurashouse.com . It's a fundraising website whose original goal was to raise $4500 to build a safe, sturdy home for 11-year old Aura Hernandez and her family who live in one of the poorest slums in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Aura has been Kristen�s sponsored child for six years through the top-rated charitable organization Children International ( http://www.children.org ).

Now, four years later, the grassroots site has raised more than $50,000 � all of which has gone to help a grand total of 27 sponsored children, their families and communities in 10 countries on 4 continents! They now run two projects simultaneously, a Main Project (around $5,000) and a Small Project (around $500).

I am writing to ask you to please help us fundraise for the latest Small Project for my sponsored child Daniela of the Dominican Republic. Children International wrote Daniela's project office and they had their field workers see what her family could really use. I just received a letter from them regarding Daniela's family. They are in great need of a refrigerator to keep food fresh and a chest of drawers.

I also asked for her for sure to get an atlas and a dictionary. Being from a poor family she would not be able to afford to get these items for her home and I feel they would be invaluable for her education. Plus her siblings and cousins could use this resource while studying and it can do good for many. Because of Daniela being sponsored she gets to go to school. Otherwise her family wouldn't be able to afford the books and uniforms public schools demand in their country. I encourage Daniela to study hard because education is the key to her future. In her country poor girls are usually educated for less time then their male siblings. Sponsorship changes that for her. I support other places in my home country and believe in helping your own but I also believe that children are important everywhere. I believe empowering young females and giving them that shot they might not otherwise get is so very important.

Daniela lives with her mother,father, 2 sisters and a brother in one multi-use room that is sectioned off with a blanket. They get water from a neighbor's faucet. Her father is a daily worker and her mother is a maid. The family's monthly income is roughly $100 (usd) per month. Daniela is turning 9 years old on September 4th.

I would like to raise $500 for them to receive a refrigerator, chest of drawers, atlas and dictionary.

This is considered a "Make your Mark" event.
