Extremely talented and passionate songwriter is looking for a backing band to play and help mold songs!

Background:

She was classically trained on the Piano for many years, has an oft-lauded and tremendously powerful blues voice (her voice is so important, and not to be overlooked) , and also plays the guitar, ukulele, and other instruments. Currently there are multiple albums worth of songs written, and more come all the time.

Style:

The music style would be best described as Blues with some folk/americana
influence, but the styles range from Grateful Dead-esque blues, to heavy latin influenced jams, to Tom Waits-like poetic mutant songs, even to 208bpm classical piano compositions. The styles are pretty much endless.

Influences:

Heavy influences are Jerry/Grateful Dead, Janis, Tom Waits, Rachmaninov, Mozart, Hitchhiking, the cosmos, Mother Nature, Leon Russell, John Lennon, glitter, doom, color, tessellations, things that have existed, may exist, or are simply joyful hallucinations... and most of all PASSION.

Wanted:

Ideally we're looking for a saxophonist (baritone pref, but not necessary), violinist, accordion player, cellist, lead guitarist, bassist, or any multi-instrumentalist. ANYTHING! We'd prefer someone more in tune with many forms of percussion instead of straight drumming, but that is unimportant. Of course the more familiar you are to an instrument the better, but basically, if you play an instrument and have the right personality, and are willing to put the time in, we want you. Must be willing to travel (eventually!)!

Personality:

Our goal is much greater than money and fame (although that is a goal, so that the cycle can perpetuate). The purpose of the music and the melding of the musicians is to create a community of people who can grow together and explore where the artform takes them, for a purpose that is nothing more than what beguiles people about music in the first place: love and passion.

Purpose:

A desire or profundity of Theatrics is also vital, being that a live show is much more than just people playing music, it's a way to get a message across to people who are willing to listen. My band has a 1500sqft warehouse in Watsonville. It's very safe, very secure, and a little hidden. We have had it to ourselves for awhile but have been considering having a second band share the space with us. We are also considering individual artists with no band for a low rent! Watsonville isn't as far from Monterey as you might think and it's worth the drive if you don't have to set up and tear down. Also, carpooling is good for the environment!
The advantage of this place is that it can be used until all hours of the night, most hours of the day during the weekdays, and 24 hours a day on the weekends. It also has a giant role up door and a ramp so that a truck can be pulled up to it for easy loading/unloading.
I'm not setting a price, I'm not offering it to just anyone. I am looking to see if anyone is interested and we'll go from there. We would be sharing the space so I feel that it's important for me to be picky and cautious. From now until the end of the year, we're going to be looking for members for our band. We are looking anywhere and everywhere for the right people. We've been looking for a while now, and have quite a few leads for the jobs. Here's the thing though...Since we are paying relocation costs for the right people, we want to make sure we have exactly the best fits.

We need a dedicated drummer (who can play with a click), and a bassist. We are also open to a second guitar player, and would LOVE to have a piano/keys player. If you can play one of those instruments AND sing, even better. This does not mean we are looking for lead vocalists. We're not. We do a lot of harmonies, so if you play and sing, that's great!

You have a day job, and you're not giving it up. But you like to play music. It's a hobby, not a living, and you don't expect it's ever going to be a living, but you would like to play. Regularly. Weekly, even. You like what the kids these days call "dinosaur rock-" AOR from the '60s, '70s, and '80s. Maybe it's not your favorite, but as long as you get to play a couple of your favorites, you can get along. Maybe you'd even like to compose a little bit, you've got some originals or would like to create some, or you're cool with messing with someone else's, but it's no big deal- the big deal is to PLAY.

I have space, a very serviceable PA and a couple mikes and six or eight open channels, a pretty crude bass and a decent bass amp, some recording gear, and a Roland drum kit (I don't play drums, but the drums are always the biggest hassle to set up, so I sprang for that). I play 6- and 12-string electric and acoustic guitar, I do some bottleneck (aka slide), and I have a guitar MIDI controller and two MIDI sound modules. Most of all, I've got a place we can play.

Another guitar player has already joined up, so we're mostly looking for one or more keyboardists, a bass player, a drummer, and one or more vocalists. But we won't say "no" to another guitarist- it's a jam. This is free-form. You need to be a flexible person. Someone's gonna wanna play a country rock or jazz or dance tune, and we wanna all get along. If there's some songs you wanna play, bring at minimum a printout of the chords and the words, and be prepared to play a recording so we can all remember it.

No druggies. No prima donnas. No perfectionists. No politics. No scam artists. No pros who think this is some entree into a "scene" of some kind. Just a jam, just for fun. Because if music's not fun for you any more, then you're not going to enjoy this, and we won't either.

Guitarist, bassist, and drummer with PA and practice space seeking vocalist to perform original melodic material. We are at our best doing improvisation--sort of a mixture between the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Black Sabbath, surf music, jazz fusion, and 60's British invasion--although we regularly rehearse our 8 or so original songs with lots of focus on structure, changes, and timing. With the right vocalist, who can learn our material quickly and bring new songs into the mix, we hope to begin playing gigs in a few months. Already, we've been offered gigs at local bars as soon as we can learn 90 minutes of songs. Well, we have the talent and stamina to play for 90 minutes now. We just need a dedicated singer who understands the principle of give-and-take. Our PA doesn't handle screaming very well. So we also are looking for someone who can sing forcefully but on key. Leaving musical space for instrumentation is also important.

We have been playing shows a couple times a month at Fernwood, The River Inn, Monterey Live, The Crepeplace (Santa Cruz) and more for about a year. We are a young modern "country" band that needs a steel player. Are there any left out there?

We practice 1-2 times a week in Big Sur, so transportation is a must. Also ability to play shows outside the area from time to time would help. We are recording an album right now and will need someone to play steel for a fall tour, or for now just to hang out get to know each other and play some trippy roots music.

Please allow me to humbly propose a collaborative opportunity that will be mutually beneficial for everyone.

We are Omani in Salinas, looking for a solid reggae bassie. But this is not your typical "band seeks bass player" situation.

If you are looking for something better than average, and are having trouble finding the right band project, this could prove to be a very rewarding and fulfilling project and a wonderful creative outlet.

You can check out some info about the band on the "OMANI Website" or on the "OMANI Myspace Page."

Your songwriting, arrangement, and other creative and artistic input are encouraged and welcomed.

Everybody has a voice and is expected to speak up if something deserves some attention from the band or an individual.

We record every practice so that people can fine tune their individual parts, and to memorize and learn the song structure.

For the original material we are already playing, feel free to write/re-write and develop your own parts if you prefer to do so. Use the basic overall feel as a guide.

Same goes for the few covers we play.

If you can provide vocals as well, that is even better.

The performance approach is not to play intro/verse/chorus etc. We do indeed have specific parts of the song, and a structure and arrangements. But we also build a groove, and improvise, and use call signs to dynamically mix things up, like live dub or dancehall beakdowns. We can build up and boil over and cool down. We also have three solo-ists on different instruments so we can play around quite a bit.

We will be recording this winter, your own material is welcome, and we will also be working on co-writing as a band.

We have bass, drum, keys, guitar, and sax.

We currently are only playing bar gigs, but still making about a hundred bucks a man. Not big money of course.

The goal is to work towards playing venues with their own sound system and sound guy, and at least charge admission or sell tickets, and where they make music one of their main priorities.

And also to be playing fairs and festivals.

A decent partial summary would be that the basic idea is to be working towards playing shorter sets, to larger more eager audiences, where there are sound system and services provided, and we have less gear to transport, while earning more.

This is not difficult to accomplish if everyone can be consistent and reliable and a commitment to quality. And I believe that is when it really starts to get fun because the band will sound so good. I say why settle for good enough?

I am a professional harmonica player looking to hook up with an accomplished guitarist to work out about 90 minutes(and more) of material for future gigging. In 25 years, I have played both on the road and locally, and have grown tired of the "jam session to no where" that seems to be the status quo around here. I really would like to find someone who is committed to a "project to somewhere"...gigs!!

Seeking musicians for experimenting (folk.indie.noise.drone)

I'm looking for musicians that might want to collaborate primarily on experimenting and then hopefully moving onto playing some shows.

Recording together and organizing ideas beforehand would be good for making music that is open to odd time signatures, ambience and song structures that don't necessarily follow intro/verse/chorus repeat etc. although I do write songs this way and don't necessarily mind it, but it I wouldn't want it be a staple. I have okay recording gear but will be upgrading to some better stuff within the month.

Ideally I'd want to make indie thats closer to folk/noise/drone/ambient than to something like ratatat or interpol. Can't exactly think of how to describe the latter bands but you should get the drift of what i dont want to do. As far as mood goes melancholy would be the best word. I'd like to evoke some poppier vocal elements however and not necessarily kimya dawson poppy but more like woelv or chitlin. so not upbeat but catchy to an extent. also Melancholy/minimalist a la some elements of 'post rock'. noise + prettiness, etc.

instruments could include anything, I can be comfortable with most instruments and since a sort of orchestral minimalism is what I'd want in the end, I can switch back and forth between bass/guitar/vocals/some drums/keys/other stringed instruments that have frets and maybe with a little practice fretless stringed instruments as well (I once played upright bass).

I'd hope for you to be proficient in at least two of those instruments, preferably drums.

I'm looking for a female player as well to round off the vocals but i want to collaborate with anyone on the same page.

Some musical influences include mount eerie, movietone, aspects of animal collective, godspeed family, stars like fleas, the dirty projectors, black heart procession.
