FULL-TIME PERMANENT ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY POSITION (Downtown Monterey)
Our Law Firm represents some of the largest employers in Monterey County. Due to growth in our firm's client base and in the complexity of the legal matters we handle, we wish to augment our team of professionals with 1-3 attorneys having varied skill sets and levels of experience. An LL.M. in corporate or tax law is desirable but not required. Ideal candidates will have a strong academic background with over 5 years of experience, primarily in commercial transactions and general corporate matters. Your duties will include all of the normal responsibilities of an Associate Attorney (i.e. legal research and writing, client meetings and communications, legal analysis, reviewing and drafting transactional documents and litigation pleadings, court appearances, time tracking, etc.). You will be expected to effectively manage, prioritize and complete all of the position responsibilities, including meeting the minimum billable hour requirement.
Furthermore, Associates will work directly with partners on assigned matters in one or more of three principal practice areas:
(1) Commercial transactions and general corporate matters presenting issues of intellectual property, labor/employment, real estate, securities, tax and worker's compensation law;
(2) Civil and commercial litigation; and
(3) Estate and business planning.
Associates with experience and demonstrated aptitude and judgment will be afforded substantial autonomy and opportunities for client interaction.
Our firm's headquarters are located in one of California's and the United States' most scenic geographic regions. Beyond its natural beauty, the Monterey Peninsula boasts renowned golf courses, wineries, restaurants, and attractions, as well as a thriving community. As such, we encourage our professionals to maintain a healthy work-life balance and promote community involvement through reasonable billable-hour requirements coupled with a generous incentive program. We do expect associates to work hard, alongside the rest of our team, but hard work will be rewarded.
The Associate Attorney position is a highly compensated position; compensation will be commensurate with experience.
